Their sons, Cedric and Arnaud, are now taking over with the management of the Pashmina and the Chalet de la Marine. In love with high mountain, the whole family has poured its creative energies in the adventure of Pashmina – le refuge 5*, Stefanie Cedric’s wife designing and decorating this landmark place, so that other skiers-travellers can share their passion.

Pashmînâ, from the Persian word pashmîneh, also known as “the golden thread”, is one of the world’s most precious fabrics.

Pashmînâ is supple and light, gentle, luxurious and elegant, as well as a protective refuge against the elements of the outside world (the cold, wind, heat and dust of Kashmir, where it originated).

Pashmînâ is cut into the cloth of kings.

It tells stories of exotic destinations, dreams and escape, the fragrance of spice, the aroma of smoke.

That’s everything the new 5-star PASHMINA hotel aims to be: a refuge, an oasis away from the rest of the world, an invitation to another land based on five promises, one for each star: a total change of scenery, family spirit, luxury, escape, and a guaranteed fantastic holiday in Val Thorens.

The PASHMINA is an experience, a glimpse of the ethereal, a surge of pure fulfilment. Here, luxury means the body and soul being enveloped by the warmth of the home; raw materials, stone and wood, an “indoor mountain” protecting against the alluring yet troubling, harsh, wind-blown, immense and unmovable mountain citadel outdoors.

The hotel’s wide spacey areas, designed to reflect the vastness of the mountains, conveys the impression of being all alone in the world…

All alone facing the world in front of the warm hearth, curled up in a large shimmering-coloured armchair – the challenge is whether you can drag yourself out of it, as the sensations will take your breath away.

The architecture of the hotel is the work of the visionary spirit of Antonio Arrò, from the Italian studio Arrò Architetti.

Aurélie Rey-Arnaud and Stefanie Gorini have brought a refined feminine touch to the décor with their choice of soft and delicate materials, taking care with each and every detail.

A WORLD AWAY … CLOSE TO HOME

The expression might seem paradoxical.

When you hear the word refuge, you think of “danger”, “high mountains”, “makeshift shelter”.

But aren’t refuges also places where we feel safe, secluded, tucked away far from the whims of the world? A shelter, a cocoon, an oasis in the desert, or perhaps a temple on a mountain summit, or even a room with a view over the horizon?

Hotel PASHMINA offers a brand new experience: exclusive luxury in the high mountains.

Val Thorens’ fourth 5-star hotel, the PASHMINA rounds out the resort’s selection of top-of-the-range accommodation by offering an extraordinary luxury refuge, perched on Europe’s rooftop – a place of sharing and exchange for intrepid adventurers built around the values of authenticity, hospitality and getting away from the everyday.

Val Thorens is a dynamic, bold, innovative, constantly changing resort that guarantees fantastic holidays and enriching experiences. It has reinvented what mountain luxury means, and set its own definition of “5 star” by keeping alive the family spirit with which it began at the heart of the largest ski area in the world, Les 3 Vallées and its 600 kilometres of connected doorstep skiing.

Inspired by this philosophy, the PASHMINA is a perfect fit with the “Val Thorens spirit”, promising the best of skiing in the best of atmospheres…

And the Gorini family is part of the reason why.

A LUXURY REFUGE

The PASHMINA boasts 42 rooms & suites from 36 to 70m2 and 8 “Cosy Homes” from 60 to 155m2.

Our motto: Here, luxury means space !

The “Cosy Home” concept: imagine a “super” suite with 1 to 4 bedrooms, all en-suite, sharing a living area with an American kitchen and a comfortable lounge so you feel right at home and have the freedom to enjoy your holiday at your own pace…

It’s the perfect balance between generously proportioned rooms, a hotel on a human scale, and spacious living areas.

A gourmet break based on the Cosy Home concept !

The hotel offers a catering service so you can enjoy an evening meal in your lounge/dining room and take advantage of the private Room Service available. The Chef will prepare your menu in advance and it will be delivered to your apartment to be enjoyed in the intimacy of your own accommodation.

The PASHMINA also offers 2 triplex (3 bedroom) chalet apartments, located in a mountain chalet adjoining the hotel, boasting a private entrance and exceptional south-facing views.

Enjoy the freedom to take advantage of all the services the hotel has to offer during your stay, should you so wish.

WHAT IF LUXURY MEANT SPACE?

An “Igloo-Pod”; a heated, equipped geodesic dome opening onto the sky offers the chance to sleep under the stars in cosy comfort.

Accommodating 2/3 people (double bed and a mezzanine), the igloo also has his bathroom with shower.

Situated right next to the new “Croissant” slope, wake up gently looking out over the silent comings and goings of the snow-grooming machines and watch the first skiers of the morning coming down.

A veritable bubble cut off from the world !

The Igloo-Pod Experience is accessible for all, booking and prices on demand.

AN IGLOO ON THE ROOF

And if you are a fan of the décors, the “le Colporteur” store allows guests to take a little bit of PASHMINA back home.

Here, luxury means the spa “by L’Occitane”, a place that relaxes and reinvigorates, a cocoon inside a cocoon, as flowing and warm as its Southern origins. The hotel’s staff is there to wait on guests hand and foot and the Spa therapists are no exception to this watchword.

A genuine return to the source: Each movement, each active ingredient, each ritual is taken from a page of L’Occitane’s herbal repository, and springs to life in these mountain surroundings.

The sense of escape begins when you inhale the first fragrance: a sensory voyage combined with the art of massage, accompanied by peaceful music and the bliss of treatments.

Thanks to its 500 m2 spa – Steam Room / Sauna and Swimming Pool / Jacuzzi – and its treatment area; the PASHMINA Spa by L’Occitane brings the brand’s product lines to life in an Alpine setting; 100% natural authentic treatments, using no machines or technology, respecting traditional massage techniques that have been tried and tested over centuries.

New for the 2016-2017 season: a sports coach will be available for guests to offer personalised advice tailored to each person’s individual goals.

The ski room is a benchmark in this respect.

Private lockers and dryers for boots and gloves are welcome features but they pale in comparison to the excellent advice supplied by the manager, Pascal. Say goodbye to sore feet, painful shins and poorly adjusted skis.

Pascal will find the right boot for you and, adjusted to the nearest millimetre, you will feel like you are skiing in slippers.

We offer the latest equipment, replaced every year, to offer the ultimate skiing experience.

5 STARS FOR LIVING AMONG THE CLOUDS

The same goes for the cuisine whipped up by Romuald Fassenet, ‘Meilleur Ouvrier de France (Best Craftsman of France)’ and consultant chef at the Chalet de la Marine, where fresh produce is delivered daily by snowmobile !

This gastronomy prioritises warmth and welcome over fashionable trends and is just as likely to satisfy your stomach as delight your eyes.

In short, it bears the high altitude stamp, like the Gorini family itself: refined but without pretention, cuisine that “rings true”, from soup, which is an ideal solution after skiing, to the gourmet dishes of Base Camp (the cuisine offered by the Base Camp restaurant is of a bistro/brasserie and non fine-dining type).

Chef-Guide Romuald Fassenet and executive Chef Josselin Jeanblanc oversee PASHMINA’s two restaurants.

“Le Base Camp” offers quality produce, authentic and refined delicacies in a relaxed setting with the mountains as its backdrop, while “ Les Explorateurs” offers high-altitude cuisine from mountains around the world, made with passion and exploring new tastes.

Another highlight and firm favourite is the excellent service orchestrated by Céline, the front-of-house manager, delivered in a discrete and natural manner, and with a smile, to enhance the perfect dining experience.

Finally, luxury means escape, the promise of a world apart and absolute tranquillity.

2 RESTAURANTS FOR 2 MAJORS CHEFS

The PASHMINA could adapt the famous French advertising slogan so it reads: “Elegance is altitude”.

None of this would be possible without respect for the summits. At an altitude of 2,300 metres you need to play by the rules. Every breath is precious.

The Gorini family are by no means ignorant of this, and for two generations have shared the same values as the mountains: hospitality, sharing, authenticity and above all, solidarity.

This philosophy of nature and life is expressed in their establish-
ments: the Hôtel des 3 Vallées, the Chalet de la Marine (a slopeside gastronomic institution created by brothers Arnaud and Cédric Gorini), and now, the PASHMINA.

THE MOUNTAINS :

A GORINI FAMILY STORY

Val Thorens was born 40 years ago, out of the imagination and above all the drive of the pioneers who dreamt it.

Their dream was to create the highest altitude resort in Europe in an exceptional natural site…

It was that same, somewhat crazy dream that also led the Gorini family to create an exceptional refuge in an exceptional setting, a reflection of the resort’s image.

Highly respectful of its extraordinary environment, the PASHMINA blends cleverly into a unique landscape…

Its natural setting is majestic: perched above 2,300 metres, Val Thorens is at the heart of a vast white mountain cirque.

From there, you can admire breath-taking panoramic views over more than 1000 French, Swiss and Italian Alpine summits, …

That’s how everything coalesced for Val Thorens to love The PASHMINA, and for the PASHMINA to become an ambassador of Val Thorens… But not just any ambassador.

The Gorini family, in keeping with the pioneering spirit that is an integral part of the DNA of Val Thorens, has always advocated uncomplicated luxury delivered in a mountain style.

Hotel PASHMINA truly embodies their ambition by offering an extremely friendly hotel with interiors that highlight a range of local, traditional and cutting-edge skills.

The Gorini family goes the extra mile to make their guests happy and they do their utmost to enable guests to benefit from a truly unforgettable high-mountain experience.

Marc, the father, and Cédric, the son, are always present in the hotel to check every detail, to talk to the guests, remaining alert to their every need.

Comfort, focused on their guests and respect for the environment…

With its exceptional location and setting, PASHMINA manages to slowdown the passage of time.

The gentle and peaceful atmosphere encourages meetings and get-togethers. Minds are free to wander in a welcoming land.

Human warmth is not an empty word: Staying at PASHMINA means entering into a family atmosphere.

A family that will allow you to go away and then return with ease.

At PASHMINA you will feel reborn.

And, by coming back, you will no longer be entirely the same.
