El Castell is run by the Tàpies family. The hotel has 38 bedrooms, which overlook to the nature park of the “Cadi-Moixeró” and the town. We have 4 types of rooms: the Pyrenees Room, the Superior room with a terrace, the Junior Suite and The Castle Suite. From the pine ceiling to the stone fireplace, every detail tells a story.

We have a gastronomic restaurant called Tàpies, which offers a Catalan-Mediterranean cuisine. 60% of all used products come from our region. We have a wine cellar with over 550 local and international labels, 80% of which come out of Spanish vineyards. We also have wines from the “Costers del Segre” denomination, which is from our province and takes its name from the river flowing through our town. We also have the Restaurant Katia, a type of bistró where the kitchen is part of the restaurant and you may watch the preparation of the dishes, roasted on the spit or barbecue.

Our wellness area includes an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, a fitness room, outdoor hot tub, sauna, steam room, 4 beauty cabins for massages and body and facial treatments, a Chromatherapy room and a relaxation area.

From April till November we regularly organise concerts in the XI century old fortress, located in the gardens of the hotel. This Fortress is also a known place for hosting events such as weddings and conventions all year long.

La Seu d’Urgell is the capital of the archbishopric of the Alt Urgell and its history dates back to roman times. The cathedral of la Seu d’Urgell dates back to the IXth century and is the largest cathedral of Roman-Lombardy style in Catalonia.

Recently restored, it is an impressive building which has a beautiful cloister and is adjacent to the roman church of “Sant Miquel” and an interesting museum of Pyrenean roman art.

The area around la Seu d’Urgell is very rich in roman art churches and chapels.

Andorra itself is worth a day trip, as it boasts some very interesting small roman chapels, museums of different kinds and its own centenary parliament.

A part from all these cultural activities, our Pyrenean region offers a lot of outdoor activities like: walking, 4×4 driving, horse riding, mountain-biking, helicopter and hot air balloon flights, rafting and hydro speeding (on real rivers or in the Olympic stadium of la Seu d’Urgell), golfing (5km from the hotel), fishing and thermal baths.

For people travelling to us from different places, our hotel is a nice stop on a trip from Barcelona to Toulouse or Carcassonne, or on a discovery holiday through the Spanish, Andorran and French Pyrenees. As a suggestion, this kind of trip can take them from Barcelona over la Seu d’Urgell into Andorra, from Andorra to Foix, from Foix over the Pyrenean highway to Biarritz, stopping on their way at the sanctuary of “Lourdes” and from Biarritz back into Spain through San Sebastian and finishing in Bilbao.
